2026 Milton Fire Hydrant Replacement

The Town of Milton is seeking qualified contractors to furnish all labor , equipment , tools , traffic control , and incidentals necessary for the removal and replacement of existing fire hydrants throughout the Town ’ s municipal water system as part of the 2026 Fire Hydrant Replacement Project . All fire hydrants , valves , pipe , fittings , and related materials will be supplied by the Town . The selected contractor shall be responsible for installation , excavation , backfill , restoration , and all associated construction activities required to complete the work . Project Scope and Development Expectations The Contractor shall furnish all labor , equipment , tools , traffic control , and incidentals necessary to remove and replace seven ( 7 ) existing fire hydrants within the Town ’ s municipal water distribution system . All hydrants , valves , pipes , fittings , and related materials will be supplied by the Town . The intent of this project is to provide the Town of Milton with fully installed and operational fire hydrants . A list of the hydrants included in this project is provided under the Supporting Documents section of this RFP . The work shall include , but not be limited to , the following : 1 . Coordination • Coordinate with the Town ’ s Water Department for scheduling and shutdowns . • The contractor must contact the Town Water Department to operate all valves pertaining to water main shutdowns . • The contractor must give at least 48 hours notice before any interruptions to the water service so that residents and businesses can be notified of possible disturbances . 2 . Hydrant Removal • Excavate to expose the existing hydrant assembly and lead . • Removal and proper disposal of existing hydrants 3 . Hydrant Installation • Install Town supplied hydrants and associated components in accordance with attached specifications • Set hydrant to final grade in accordance with Town standards • Ensure proper orientation of nozzles and breakaway flange installation 4 . Smart Hydrant Installation • Install one ( 1 ) K - 81 “ I ” Smart Hydrant ( Town - supplied ) on Main Street . • The Contractor is responsible for labor and physical installation only . Final setup , activation , and configuration of the smart technology will be completed by the Town . 5 . Surface Restoration • Backfill and compact excavation in accordance with Town standards . • Restore pavement , sidewalks , gravel shoulders , and lawn areas to preconstruction condition or better . 6 . Project Closeout • Remove all debris and excess materials from the site .
