Materials : 3 / 8 ” Seal Coat aggregate shall be washed and conform to Montana Department of Transportation “ Standard and Supplemental Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction , 2020 Edition , V5 . 1 ”, Effective June 27 , 2026 . In accordance with 701 . 02 . 8 Crushed Cover Aggregate – Cover Material , for Type 2 , Table 701 - 12 . Exception to noted specification above required for wear factor noted in item 2 . The aggregate shall be graded as follows : TABLE OF GRADATIONS Percentage by weight passing square mesh sieves Sieve Size Type 2 1 / 2 ” 3 / 8 ” 100 % No . 4 0 - 8 % No . 200 0 - 1 % All chips shall run through a wash plant Meet the following requirements : 1 . The composite aggregate must not have adherent films of clay , vegetable matter , frozen lumps , and other extraneous matter that prevents thorough coating with bituminous material . Bituminous material must remain adhered to the material upon contact with water . No combination of shale , clay , coal , and soft particles can exceed 2 . EXCEPTION : The aggregate must have a wear factor not exceeding 20 % at 500 revolutions ; and 3 . A minimum of 70 % by weight of the coarse aggregate must have at least one fractured face . 3 . 0 PROVIDING AGGREGATE The bidder agrees to furnish the City of Missoula , with 3 , 500 tons of 3 / 8 ” seal coat aggregate conforming to Section 2 . 1 of these specifications . The following criteria will apply : a . The city will haul the 3 / 8 ” seal coat aggregate from the bidder ' s stockpile as needed from April 1 , 2026 , to July 16 , 2026 . b . The bidder ' s stockpile shall be located within five miles of the Missoula City limits . c . The city agrees to remove all 3 , 500 tons of 3 / 8 ” seal coat aggregate by July 18 , 2026 . d . The bidder shall load the 3 / 8 ” seal coat aggregate into the city trucks during the city work week as required by the city . e . Payment shall be made on a tonnage 3 / 8 ” seal coat aggregate loaded and hauled basis .
