Academic Services for Homebound Students

MNPS serves a diverse student population with varied needs requiring homebound services . For purposes of this RFP , " Homebound Instruction " refers to individualized academic services provided at the student ' s home , hospital , or other approved non - school setting , and may include virtual instruction when approved by MNPS . " Teacher of Record " refers to the MNPS teacher assigned to the student ' s course ( s ). " Contractor " refers to the successful proposer ( s ) awarded under this RFP . Deliver in - person instruction in a non - school setting ( home , hospital , or community site ) for a minimum of three ( 3 ) hours per week per student , with additional hours provided only upon MNPS authorization . • Virtual instruction ( synchronous and / or asynchronous ) may be used only as a supplemental method , and only when medically advisable or necessary to support short - term instructional continuity and may not serve as the primary mode of instruction . • • • MNPS must approve any / all virtual instruction • Up to one ( 1 ) hour per week per student may be billed for instructor travel time to and from the approved instructional setting . • Up to thirty ( 30 ) minutes per week per student is permitted for required communication , documentation , and related administrative tasks . • The maximum allowable weekly total is 4 . 5 hours per student , unless MNPS provides prior written approval for additional time . • Provide instruction across K – 12 content areas , including preacademic , functional , and advanced academic coursework , aligned with MNPS curriculum , pacing guides , and grading policies . • Homebound teachers will collaborate with relevant school - based teams ( including EL , 504 , mental health providers ) as needed • Homebound teachers may be requested to attend homebound re - entry and / or progress meetings with the student ' s school - based team . If the homebound teacher is unable to attend , a written progress update will be provided to the school counselor from the homebound teacher . • Homebound teachers will collaborate with the teachers of record at each student ' s assigned school to establish procedures for sharing instructional materials and information ( including curriculum pacing guides , teacher websites , login credentials , and daily assignments ) and to clarify the grading process .
