Description

Description

Albany State University (Using Agency) on behalf of the Board of Regents of The University System of Georgia (Owner) is soliciting responses from Construction Manager at Risk Firms interested in and capable of providing construction services for the Replacement of the Cooling Tower at the East Campus Central Energy Plant on the campus of Albany State University in Albany, Georgia. A project description is provided below: Project Background The Central Energy Plant at Albany State University's East Campus was constructed in 1997 and provides chilled water and heating water for HVAC systems in several high profile buildings on campus. The existing field erected cooling tower serving the chillers in the Central Energy Plant is vintage to the original construction. The tower assembly is beyond its expected service life and is in need of replacement. Project Description The project involves removal of the existing wood framed field erected cooling tower assembly and associated vertical turbine tower pumps, installation of new factory fabricated steel cooling towers on the existing concrete basin, and modifying existing basin to receive the footprint of the new cooling towers. The project also includes installation of new vertical turbine tower pumps in the existing concrete sump. Additional scope includes installation of new VFD's to serve the cooling towers, upgrades to the existing building automation system to accomodate the new towers, test and balance of the completed condenser water system, and electrical work to support removal and installation of mechanical sysetms. This Qualification Based Selection will be completed in two Stages (also referred as "steps" in this event and in attached documents); Stage I: Request for Qualifications and Stage II: Request for Proposals (From Qualified Finalists). The University will evaluate and select several qualified firms from the response submittals in Stage I and notify the finalist firms to proceed to Stage II. The University will then post Stage II documents, conduct a mandatory pre-proposal site visit, evaluate/review the submitted request for proposals and interview
