SUBMITTALS 1 . Shop Drawings : Submit Shop Drawings indicating areas to berepaired . 2 . Product Data : submit manufacturer ’ s technical data for materials and products . QUALITY ASSURANCE 1 . Comply with Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction , current edition . PRODUCTS 1 . Provide materials of the class , grade , or type conforming to relevant provisions of Section 203 Bituminous Materials of the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction . Headers and Stakes - Headers : Redwood , construction grade ; Stakes : 2x4 redwood , construction grade ; and Nails : Common , galvanized , 12d minimum . Surface Seals : Guard - Top ; Over Kote ; Park Top ; Sure Seal ; or Super Drive Top . Pavement Paint : Paint for stripping shall be 100 % acrylic premium grade traffic paint conforming to the requirements of FS TT - P - 1952 Type 1 ; latest edition . Provide colors to match existing or school site selected colors . 2 . 3 . 4 . EXECUTION 1 . Clean all surfaces and remove portions of bituminous pavement that show signs of deterioration in accordance with applicable provisions of Section 300 – Earthwork of the Stand Specifications for Public Works Construction . Remove raveled and depressed bituminous pavement to limits required to provide sound edges . Where repairs are necessary , saw cut existing improvements , trim holes and trenches in bituminous pavement to permit mechanical hand tampers to compact the fill . 2 . 3 . FULL WIDTH GRIND AND OVERLAY OF EXISTING SURFACES 1 . Preparation of surfaces : Prior to filling cracks , clean existing bituminous surfacing of loose and foreign materials and coat with a film of asphalt emulsion . Install redwood headers where missing or damaged . Contractor to account for and field verify . 2 . a . Complete area shall be grind down 2 ” full width of existing area ( contractor to field verify square footage ) i ii iii LGAM : Area A – 53 , 500sqft / Area B – 24 , 800 sqft VLMA : Area A – 21 , 300sqft / Area B – 22 , 250 sqft San Miguel : Area A – 27 , 000sqft b . c . d . Install 1 ” hot mix asphalt with paving machinery to the same area to provide leveling a course . Install 1 ” hot mix asphalt with paving machinery to the same area . Compact ALL new asphalt surface with vibratory equipment and machine rollers to maximum compaction . Fill cracks ½ inch wide and less with RS - 1 emulsion and silica sand or other required material . Cracks large than ½ inch wide shall be filled with Type C2 Asphalt concrete asspecified . Cracks shall be filled to the level of adjacent surfacing . Where low areas , holes , or depressions occur in existing surfacing , repair with emulsified asphalt . Install material , strike off the emulsified asphalt with a straightedge flush with adjoining surfacing . Finish with a steel trowel , and after dehydration , compact by rolling ortamping . e . f . 3 . Testing : Flood test entire area in presence of the maintenance supervisor . Entire area tested shall be free of standing water or puddles and signed off by district representative . Surface Seal : After surface has been repaired and tested , thoroughly wash surfaces with water to remove dirt , debris , excessive oil and grease or other foreign matter . Install seal coat over entire area in accordance with manufacturer ’ s written directions and recommendations . Install 2 coats of surface seal to existing bituminous surfacing or where existing surfacing was patched .
