Description
Description | This Auburn Boulevard Bridge is located in North Sacramento where Auburn Boulevard crosses Arcade Creek just east of Winding Way and west of Park Road and the I-80 ramps. The existing structure was constructed in 1927 and widened in 1965. In its current condition, the structure has spalling at the girders and bents and insufficient deck width to provide the City with standard lane widths and bike lanes. The existing structure is located within 150’ of the Winding Way intersection which does not have ADA compliant ramps or crossing facilities. This project will require work within the County of Sacramento. Close coordination, input, and approval, from County reviewers will be required during preliminary engineering and design of project improvements. This project will seek to replace the existing structurally deficient and functionally obsolete bridge. The new bridge will be a structure that provides a minimum of five 12’ lanes, two 6’ bike lanes, a raised median, and two 6’ sidewalks. The proposed project has the potential to impact the current configuration of the Auburn Boulevard/Winding Way signalized intersection. During the preliminary engineering and development of the Project Report, the necessity and alternatives for modifications to the intersection must be investigated. As of September 2013, the Caltrans HBP representative notified the City that federal funding is now available for this project, and the E-76 was issued for preliminary engineering and environmental documentation. The City is advertising this project to procure consultant services to perform preliminary engineering, prepare a Project Report with bridge type selection memorandum, prepare environmental documentation, perform final design, and bidding and construction assistance. |
