The Principal invites the Tenderer to submit a Tender to provide Principal Consultant (architectural services) for the Hume Tech School. In November 2022, the Victorian Government committed to fund a Hume Tech School at Kangan Institute’s Broadmeadows campus. Tech Schools provide students with access to advanced technology, industry programs, authentic learning and problem-solving experience, and exposure to career pathways in STEM. The Hume Tech School will engage with a number of local and regional industry and community partners to deliver diverse programs related to the curriculum for students in partner schools and support teacher professional learning and integration of STEM in the school environment. The Hume Tech school will be future focused, flexible, and offer students from partner schools, one-day incursions and two-to-three-day educational programs. These will provide a significant deviation from the students’ day-to-day school experience, with a strong focus on design thinking aligned with local industry activities. The intention behind these immersive experiences is to help students decide what they want to do next and realise pathways from school to careers. The intention is to have the tech school operational by Term 3 2026. The Hume Tech School will expand Bendigo Kangan Institute’s offering at its Kangan Institute’s Broadmeadows campus whilst leveraging its experience as an award-winning training provider focused on student and industry outcomes.  Bendigo Kangan Institute view capital works projects as opportunities to expand beyond just creating training facilities, to delivering strong social and employment outcomes through the procurement process. As a new offering by Bendigo Kangan Institute supported by the traditional landowners, partner schools and industry partners, and funded by Department of Education, significant engagement and consultation is required to ensure that the tech school meets the needs of its many stakeholders. The project procurement plan involves the tendering of the main works package to the design and construct market at the 70% completion milestone of the contract documentation.  At this point BKI will make available the design team including the architect, landscape architects and engineering consultants for novation to the preferred head contractors to complete developed design to IFC and deliver the project.  Please note that the project manager, quantity surveyor and building surveyor will not be novated to the building contractor and will remain contracted to BKI for the entire duration of the project.
