The BioFire Torch instrument , is a multiplexing polymerase chain reaction platform capable of testing for multiple organisms , including multiple infectious disease - causing agents in under an hour using various panels ranging from respiratory to gastrointestinal . These instruments provide rapid , efficient , and sensitive detection of nucleic acid ( DNA ) from clinical samples , which allows for timely identification of the presence of infectious agents and hastens treatment . bioMerieux , Inc . is the sole manufacturer and distributor of the BioFire FilmArray Torch System and reagents . |
