The Electricity Authority is seeking to contract with a highly skilled and competent Provider, able to deliver accurate and reliable forecasts of intermittent generation (e.g. wind and solar) in the New Zealand electricity market, for the purpose of ensuring other market participants can make well-informed generation and consumption decisions.Through this process, the Authority hopes to explore providers’ ability to offer a centralised forecasting service for all intermittent generation sites in New Zealand. We also seek to explore the opportunity for a centralised forecaster to submit offers on behalf of intermittent generators on a commercial basis.
