Description | 1 . The chip or cover aggregate shall be hard , sound , crushed rock or gravel . 2 . The aggregate shall be 100 % crushed material , cubical in shape , with minimal elongated , flat or sliver shaped particles . 3 . The aggregate shall be free from dirt , organic matter , clay balls , adherent films of clay , or other objectionable matter . 4 . Percentage of wear , Los Angeles Abrasion Test ( AASHTO T96 ), not more than 40 . 5 . The cover aggregate shall be ½ inch rock and conform to the following gradation table : Sieve Size Percent Passing 3 / 4 ” 100 1 / 2 ” 85 - 100 3 / 8 ” 45 - 65 No . 4 0 - 15 No . 8 0 - 8 No . 200 0 - 3 |
