Coastal and Marine Resources Internship Rotational Program

The principal responsibilities / scope of work for the multi - department rotation will include : • Office of Marine Fisheries o Assist with collection of recreational and commercial fisheries data ; o Conduct fieldwork aboard fisheries vessels and participate in biological and creel surveys ; o Process fishery samples in the laboratory ; o Collect environmental and habitat data ; o Assist with data entry , reports , newsletters , and public guides ; and , o Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and / or Office Director . • Aquaculture & Hatchery Operations o Assist with warm - water marine species rearing for stock enhancement ; o Participate in broodstock management and live feeds production ( algae , rotifers , zooplankton ); o Conduct larval and juvenile husbandry ; o Support health management and artificial seawater system operations ; o Assist with experimental execution and routine hatchery operations ; and , o Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and / or Office Director . • Office of Coastal Resources Management , Coastal Preserves & Resource Management o Assist with invasive species control efforts ; o Participate in habitat management , restoration , and biological inventories ; o Assist with maintenance of public access areas and nature trails ; o Support education and outreach events ; and , o Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and / or Office Director . • Grand Bay NERR , Estuarine Research & Monitoring o Assist with field and laboratory collection and analysis of estuarine water quality , nutrient , and weather data ; o Learn to calibrate , deploy , retrieve , and troubleshoot water quality dataloggers ; o Assist with weather station data collection and maintenance ; o Process macroinvertebrate samples ; o Support research staff and participate in professional development opportunities ; and , o Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and / or Office Director .
