Under the direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation , the Contractor shall provide all labor , materials , and supervision necessary to prepare , commission , and winterize the Robert J . Crowley Pool . The primary objective is to ensure the facility is fully operational and in strict compliance with Massachusetts Regulations ( 105 CMR 435 ) and local Board of Health requirements . 2 . Scope of Services A . Mechanical Systems & Equipment Startup • System Inspection : Inspect and initiate pumps , motors , filtration systems , and backwash units . • Operational Verification : Confirm the system achieves the required turnover rate . • Flow Monitoring : Ensure all flow meters are present , operational , and calibrated . • Continuous Operation : Confirm and monitor continuous filtration system performance . B . Water Treatment & Chemical Balancing The contractor is responsible for filling the pool and achieving the following parameters per MA code : • Disinfection : Initial shock chlorination ; maintain Free Chlorine at 1 . 0 – 3 . 0 ppm . • Balance : pH between 7 . 2 – 7 . 8 ; Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness within industry standards . • Stabilization : Maintain stabilizer levels within acceptable limits . • Automation : Verify that all automatic chemical feeders and controllers are fully operational . C . Operational Testing • Stress Test : Run the full system continuously for a minimum of 24 – 48 hours . • Validation : Monitor for leaks , mechanical failures , and chemical feed accuracy during the test period . D . Winterization of Pool and Kiddie Pool - Performed by a certified pool operator ( CPO ). The closing includes : • Drain residual water ( 2 inches or less ) from the pool after the owner has drained the main body of water . • Remove any fittings and install winter plugs in drains and returns as needed • Blow out the lines , piping , and equipment with compressed air to remove residual water . • Install antifreeze in lines and equipment to mitigate freezing . • Winterize all filtration equipment . • Remove chemical probes and sensors and deliver them to the owner for warm winter storage . 3 . Compliance & Documentation The Contractor shall facilitate the local Board of Health inspection by providing : 1 . Water Chemistry Logs : Detailed records of initial and stabilized levels 2 . Equipment Verification : Written proof of mechanical system integrity . 3 . Permit Support : On - site support for health department walkthroughs .
