Cost analysis of the implementation, management and control of a traceability system for cocoa beans in Côte d'Ivoire

<b><i>Please note that this is not a call for tenders but a publication announcing the Contracting authority’s <a href="https://ec.europa.eu/docsroom/documents/40287" target="_blank">intention to publish a future negotiated low or middle valueprocedure. </a> </i></b><br></br>The objective of the study is to identify the cost of traceability from the producer country Côte d’Ivoire to the consumer market of Europe. The focus will be the transparency on the origin of cocoa in line with the requirements of the EU Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products. To achieve this objective, this study will (1) define a methodology for estimating the cost of a traceability system, (2) identify required changes along the supply chain to preserve origin information and (3) estimate cost implications of different options of ensuring the traceability of cocoa by taking into account existing traceability systems.
