The drains to be cleaned in this project include barrier wall box inlets , drop box inlets , catch basins , bridge end drainage box inlets , curb box inlets , weep holes , scupper drains , etc ., that have removable grates . Remove and replace the grates for access and vacuum the throat and chamber area to remove all debris . The regular and routine removal , disposal , and reporting work to be performed under these specifications shall include but are not limited to : A . Clean all drains located along the assigned route in all directions for distance of fifteen ( 15 ) feet and dispose of accumulated debris from the rights of way . Removal and replacement of grates at the top of drains including grates that have been bolted or welded are the responsibility of the contractor . Bolted and welded grates shall be re - bolted or re - welded upon completion of drain cleaning . B . Drain cleaning shall include median drains and pipes along listed controlled access to highway ’ s shoulder areas and drains and pipes along ramps . C . Scupper drain cleaning shall only be performed during regular cleaning operations if requested by the Department . The cost for which shall not exceed 30 % of the cost for standard drain cleaning per scupper drain
