. Contractor shall be responsible for laying out the Work including staking out all new construction . Contractor shall employ an experienced Civil Engineer / Surveyor and cause him to determine all baselines , lines and grades and to verify same from time to time during the progress of the work . For all sanitary sewer , storm sewer , manhole and inlet construction , prior to construction Contractor shall : - Set a PK nail at each manhole and inlet and other proposed facility and provide the elevation on the PK nail to the Engineer . The PK nails shall be placed after the existing utilities have been located and marked in the field . - Review the set PK nail locations in the field with Engineer . Upon review of the field locations , the Engineer may direct shifts and adjustments in the proposed facility locations . Such shifts and adjustments shall be expected and shall be laid out and constructed at no additional cost to the Owner . Contractor may request shifts and adjustments to the manhole or inlet locations to facilitate construction . All Contractor changes shall be subject to approval of Engineer who shall solely determine if a shift is allowed .
