Currently there is no standardised method for assessing the positive impact of digitalisation on the environment and climate. It is not clear what is the net environmental impact of digitalisation in a given sector or in a specific scenario. This leads to lack of clarity for private and public investors which digitalisation projects are eligible for sustainable financing. This EP Pilot project will support the recently established European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC) to deliver on its commitments. It will support the secretariat and functioning of the EGDC, analyse many digital solutions applied to a given scenarios and develop a methodology for assessment of net environmental impact. The guidance documents on green digital transformation will be developed for different sectors and for the ICT sector in cooperation with relevant sectoral stakeholders. A consultation and dissemination workshop will be organised across EU, as well as a high level event, by the end of 2022.
