Description | The Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services is seeking competitive bids for the purpose of supplying Ascending and Descending Evacuation Chairs for delivery to 503 S . Kansas Ave ., Topeka , KS 66603 . 4 . 1 . Contract Term : The awarded contract will be effective from the date of contract execution through December 31 , 2026 , with no options for renewal . 4 . 3 . Operational Need and Rationale : 1 . Basement - Specific Risk : The presence of an occupied basement creates a unique safety challenge . In multiple credible scenarios such as fire alarm activation , external police activity , flooding , or hazardous conditions near ground - level exits , the safest egress path may require moving occupants upward before exiting the building . Evacuation chairs that only descend stairwells cannot support safe evacuation from the basement without placing staff and occupants at elevated risk . Chairs capable of both ascending and descending ensure KDADS can evacuate or relocate individuals from any level of the building regardless of where the incident originates ... |
