The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority ( KCATA ) seeks proposals for the purpose of selecting an executive search firm to facilitate the recruitment , interviewing , and ultimately , the hiring of our bi - state transit authority ' s next Chief Executive Officer ( CEО ). KCATA will select a search firm who can coordinate and fulfill the expectation of a process that will be confidential but collaborative , thorough and evaluative , and intentional about finding the best possible person for this important position . KCATA is open to recommendations from firms on best practices and process elements designed to best achieve our goal of finding a strong and visionary leader . The items below offer a baseline scope of work and anticipated deliverables : Consultation and needs assessment ; Development and implementation of recruitment strategy ; Candidate Sourcing ; Candidate management and screening ; Facilitation of evaluation and selection process ; Reference and background checks ; and Support final selection and negotiation . There is potential that the scope may include ongoing coaching and support for the selected CEO . KCATA intends to contract with a search firm with experience and expertise in : Recruitment and placement of transit executives ; Developing a position description in collaboration with transit agency governing board ; Developing and confirming the search process ; Providing a list of qualified candidates to KCATA ; Presenting well - qualified candidates and seamless organizational recruitment efforts , initiating and planning interviews with candidates using feedback from KCATA representatives , stakeholders and others identified ; Communicating with the identified top applicant as directed by KCAТА ; Assisting with the appointment of the newly selected CEO and approval of employment contract in an open forum , public Board of Commissioners ' meeting .
