Description

Preparation 4 . 4 . 1 The contractor shall verify that the existing guardrail is structurally sound . 4 . 4 . 2 All weld locations must be cleaned of paint and coatings . 4 . 4 . 3 Vertical posts shall be spaced no more than six feet apart . 4 . 5 Installation 4 . 5 . 1 Fence posts shall be welded flush to the existing guardrail . 4 . 5 . 2 Each post requires two welds ( upper and lower ), each with a minimum of a four - inch weld length on both sides . 4 . 5 . 3 Corner , end , and pull posts shall be installed as shown in the plans . Additional pull posts require prior approval from the City . 4 . 5 . 4 Joints may be welded ; if welded , all exposed joints shall be finished by grinding or filling to give a neat appearance . 4 . 5 . 5 All damage to the galvanizing shall be repaired in accordance with the Georgia Standard Specifications . 4 . 5 . 6 The contractor shall ensure everything is level and stable . 4 . 5 . 7 A protective coating shall be applied to all new fence components to improve weather resistance and service life .
