The Newton County School System requires a vendor to provide annual fire sprinkler , hydrant , suppression systems , and extinguishers inspection and repairs as specified within this solicitation . The vendor must provide all the labor , materials , and resources to perform the work as described and in accordance with all applicable federal , state , and local codes and regulations . All fire sprinklers , fire hydrants , post indicator valves , suppression systems , and extinguishers will be inspected by the Fire Marshal . Fire Sprinkler Inspections A . The project includes the annual inspection and maintenance of approximately 65 wet and 5 dry water - based fire protection systems at 24 locations . The scope includes , but is not limited to : • Conducting main drain water flow test of all 2 ” drains at the risers and recording the required pressures • Visual inspection and operational test of sprinkler alarm valves • Testing of mechanical water motor gongs , vane - type water flow devices , tamper devices , and / or pressure switches that provide audible / visual signals . • Complete walk - through of the entire building to verify proper sprinkler location , spacing , temperature rating , and external condition of sprinkler heads and piping of all areas protected by the fire sprinkler systems . • Guide on - site maintenance personnel regarding recommended / required inspection , testing , and preventive maintenance necessary for optimal operation and reliability of the fire sprinkler systems . • Following inspections , provide a detailed report outlining the results of the inspection . • Inspection must meet the National Fire Protection Association Standard 25 ( Inspections , Testing , and Maintenance of Water - Based Fire Protection Systems ) • Any repairs for deficiencies and corrective actions needed beyond those covered in the annual inspection must be submitted to the Facilities Department in writing for approval prior to the repair being made . • Coordination with the NCSS Facilities representative prior to performing any work B . Please refer to Appendix A for fire sprinkler information 6 . Fire Hydrant and Post Indicator Valve Inspections A . Inspect all private fire hydrants and post indicator valves for approximately 70 fire hydrants and 24 post indicator valves at 27 locations . The scope of the inspection includes , but is not limited to : • Complete annual inspection , lubrication , and operational check of fire hydrants , hydrant valves , and post indicator valves • Complete annual testing ‐ AWWA / NFPA static , flow , and residual testing per current applicable codes • Basic inventory of all hydrants and post indicator valves ( make / model / age ) • Annual Inspection report ( grouped by school ) for each item • Painting ( using only manufacturer - recommended products ) ALL equipment . Hydrant Color : Silver . PIV Color : Red . • Coordination with the NCSS Facilities representative and the water system provider prior to performing any work . • Inspections performed must meet all applicable codes and regulations • Any repairs for deficiencies and corrective actions needed beyond those covered in the annual inspection must be submitted to the Facilities Department in writing for approval prior to the repair being made .
