Description | The successful bidder shall furnish 1 , 000 tons of Temporary Bituminous Patching Material (“ Cold Patch ”) meeting all specifications contained herein , including : • Material composition • Bituminous material requirements • Aggregate requirements • Job Mix Formula ( JMF ) tolerances • Stockpile performance requirements • Workability and water - resistance testing • Plant , mixing , and delivery requirements All material must comply with PennDOT Chapter 3 , Section 485 . Note : “ Rockite ” does not meet specification and will not be accepted . 3 . TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 3 . 1 General Description Material shall be a plant - mixed bituminous stockpile patching mixture composed of mineral aggregate coated with bituminous material . Material must : • Remain stockpile - stable for at least six months • Remain workable at all times • Be suitable for patching holes up to 75 mm ( 3 inches ) deep Material may be rejected at any time if more than 10 % uncoated particles are observed or if the mixture becomes unfit for use . 3 . 2 Bituminous Material Requirements Bituminous Material MC - 400 shall be used between November 1 and March 1 . Bituminous MC - 800 shall be used between March 1 and October 31 . Bituminous Material E - 10 and CMS - 2s can be used throughout the year . |
