The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff has partnered with the National Science Foundation to BUILD research capacity through the EPIIC : Bolstering University Infrastructure for Leading Development ( BUILD @ UAPB ) in collaboration with Arkansas Tech University . The principal goals of this project will be to : Enhance Infrastructure for Research : Focusing on personnel , policies , and procedures , and developing an internal system of accountability to empower staff of the research development enterprise to help faculty seek competitive funding and develop research with societal and economic impact . Building partnerships between academia , industry , and others : Alongside the goals of enhancing infrastructure , the research development enterprise will also be empowered to help faculty and internal and external partners to collaborate in a meaningful sustainable way . This project will include a gap analysis of UAPB ’ s research enterprise based on the project team ’ s initial landscape analysis which includes : ( 1 ) initial metrics for the Evaluation Plan ; ( 2 ) alignment across stakeholders on key knowledge and information gaps ; ( 3 ) planning for a tour of state core lab facilities and plan for participating in strategic state - level research association meetings . This project will also include external evaluation services that will aid the team in capturing and interpreting the data generated throughout the lifetime of the project and reporting the results to the funder via annual reports and highlights as needed .
