SCOPE OF WORK C1 . 1 The specification covers collection and proper disposal of refuse and garbage for approximately seventy - four ( 74 ) schools / locations for the Newark Board of Education ( NBOE , District ). C1 . 2 The Contractor shall provide 8 - cubic yard front - end load containers with lids needed for pick - up at all required locations at no cost to the Newark Board of Education . The Contractor shall ensure all containers and lids are in acceptable working order . Defective and inoperable containers and lids shall be replaced at no cost to the District . Front - end loader vehicles shall be used when removing damaged containers . C1 . 3 Garbage Collection pick - up shall be removed on the number of days per week in accordance with the attached schedule , Monday through Friday ( See Attachment A ). The containers must be emptied and placed back at their respective locations . C1 . 4 The pick - up schedule shall be based on student population and subject to change . During the months of July and August , the pick - up schedule shall be based on District Summer School locations . C1 . 5 The Newark Board of Education reserves the right to increase or decrease and / or change the number of locations and type of pick - up at the same awarded price . The Newark Board of Education shall determine the time of day for all garbage pick - ups and location of containers . C1 . 6 Upon notification from the Director of Custodial Services and / or appointed designee all emergency pick - ups must be made within twenty - four ( 24 ) hours . C1 . 7 No missed pick - ups shall be permitted . If scheduled pick - up cannot be made the Contractor must notify the Director of Custodial Services and / or appointed designee . In the event a pick - up is missed and not made up within one ( 1 ) day or before the next scheduled pick - up there shall be a deduction based on the unit pricing on the cost proposal . Missed pick - ups may be constituted as non - performance and non - compliance of contract . C1 . 8 All 8 - cubic yard containers shall be deodorized and sanitized using a Steam Jenny , or equivalent steam pressure washer equipment a minimum of four ( 4 ) times per year . The Contractor shall perform all work in strict compliance with all federal , state , county and city regulations in accordance with all Health and Safety Divisions and any and all other regulatory bodies . C1 . 9 The Contractor agrees to process all garbage and refuse in accordance and in complete compliance with all New Jersey and Federal Environmental Laws and regulations . C2 . 10 The Contractor shall relocate containers upon request of the Director of Custodial Services and / or appointed designee at no cost .
