Grand Canyon State Logo Signs Program ; Fabrication Services

Statement of Need 1 . 1 . Pursuant to the Arizona Procurement Code , A . R . S . § 41 - 2501 et seq ., the State of Arizona Department of Transportation ( Department ), has a requirement for a term contract for the fabrication and supply of specific service sign logo structure panels and logo panels for the Grand Canyon State Logo Sign Program . 1 . 2 . The Grand Canyon State Logo Sign Program includes specific service logo signs , AZ 511 sponsor signs , logo panels and / or any sign activity requested by the Department for any sign sponsorship program predominately located on ADOT Roadways throughout the State of Arizona in accordance with the contract requirements herein . 3 . 2 . The Contractor shall adhere to all rules and regulations for all cities , municipalities , counties , state , federal agencies and / or tribal lands as applicable per order . 3 . 3 . All items supplied will be suitable for long term permanent signing applications . 3 . 4 . The Contractor shall have experience and knowledge in making traffic signs that conform to the applicable requirements that have been established by the Federal Highway Administration ( FHWA ) through the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices ( MUTCD ), Standard Highway Signs ( SHS ) and other applicable regulations , rules and standards of practice used to format and make traffic signs . The company should be familiar with the Department ’ s Manual of Approved Signs ( MOAS ), PGP Manual , Signing Standard Drawings and Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction . All signs made shall be made of retro - reflective sheeting that is manufactured and tested in accordance to American Society of Testing Materials ( ASTM ) Designation : D 4956 Standard Specification for Retroreflective Sheeting ; for Traffic Control ( ASTM D 4956 ). 3 . 5 . Work Orders 3 . 5 . 1 . The Contractor shall be responsible for developing and coordinating a sign design drawing procedure corresponding with the ADOT ’ s sign design drawing requirements that is to be used to present a complete layout of the sign that has been ordered . Sign design drawing requirements are specified in the Specifications , Section 4 . 3 . Details on the sign layout work order and sign design form should include as applicable : 3 . 5 . 1 . 1 . MUTCD / Standard Highway Signs ( SHS ) Sign Code and / or MOAS Sign Code ; 3 . 5 . 1 . 2 . Dimensions , text , font style and font spacing 3 . 5 . 1 . 3 . Symbol details ( including graphic grid which can either be referenced or attached if it is special or not readily available ) 3 . 5 . 1 . 4 . Border width , border radius , border location 3 . 5 . 1 . 5 . Colors , shape , brand name materials to be used for background 3 . 5 . 1 . 6 . Text , symbols border and plaques , substrate type , substrate thickness 3 . 5 . 1 . 7 . Supplying stringers and all other miscellaneous details on the sign proposed to be made . 3 . 5 . 2 . Submittal drawings are required for each work order . The Contractor shall make sure the Department has the opportunity to review , comment , make changes and sign - off on the final configuration of the sign order before they are fabricated . No signs will be made without written approval for the submittal drawing . 3 . 5 . 3 . Contractor shall not order materials or commence work without an approved work order and purchase order . 4 . Specific Requirements 4 . 1 . Supply Item Categories and Requirements To define specific technical requirements and scope classifications , the supply items have been grouped into categories by basic sign type . The following categories provide general descriptions and applicable requirements for each group . 4 . 1 . 1 . Category A – MUTCD / SHS / MOAS Specific Service Signs 4 . 1 . 1 . 1 . The signs shall come on extruded or a continuous single sheet of aluminum per the thickness specified with rounded or radius corners as specified in the MOAS and the MUTCD or as otherwise directed on the work order . All retroreflective backgrounds , lettering , borders , markings , and symbols per sign order shall include all labor , equipment , materials , bracings , packaging and all other incidentals required to effectively complete the work specified .
