Description | 1 . 1 Demolition ; Contractor shall : ● Remove existing gym flooring system in its entirety . ● Remove subfloor components as required . ● Remove existing bleachers . ● Dispose of all materials offsite in accordance with regulations . ● Protect adjacent walls , equipment , and finishes . ● Provide temporary dust control and floor protection . 1 . 2 New Gym Floor Installation Contractor shall furnish and install a high - performance hardwood athletic flooring system meeting MFMA standards . Floor System Requirements : ● Maple hardwood flooring ( Northern Hard Maple or equal ) ● 25 / 32 " nominal thickness ● Properly acclimated prior to installation ● Installed over a resilient subfloor system suitable for competitive athletics ● Vapor barrier system installed as required ● Shock absorption system compliant with DIN or ASTM athletic standards Subfloor System : ● Floating or anchored subfloor designed for : o Basketball o Volleyball o Physical education use ● Provide moisture testing of concrete slab prior to installation . ● Provide leveling and preparation of substrate as required . 1 . 3 Court Markings & Finish ● Sand and finish floor . ● Apply game lines for : o High School Basketball ( PIAA compliant ) o Volleyball o Center logo ( if provided by District ) ● Apply two - part oil - modified or water - based polyurethane finish ( minimum three coats ). ● Provide slip - resistant , athletic - grade finish . 1 . 4 Bleacher Installation ; Contractor shall furnish and install new telescoping bleachers meeting current ICC and ADA standards . Bleacher Specifications : ● Length : 73 ’ 6 ” ● Extension : 8 ’ ● Closed height : 4 ’ ● Aluminum seat boards ● Powder - coated steel frame ● Non - marking wheels ● Automatic locking system when extended ● ADA compliant aisle access ● End rails and guardrails as required ● Code - compliant handrails ; Bleachers must meet : ● ICC 300 Standard for Bleachers ● IBC requirements ● ADA accessibility standards ; Contractor shall anchor bleachers per manufacturer specifications . |
