Maintenance of the fields shall include but not limited to : • Annual soil testing by a certified soil testing laboratory • Appropriate application of soil treatments per soil analysis recommendations • Cutting of hay will occur a minimum of twice per year with the last cut occurring prior to the fall weed seed propagation ( for weed control ) • Baling of hay ( not to be stored at the Hewitt Property ) • Annual cutting back of the field edges to maintain the current field / forest interface . The successful bidder shall annually ( in the month of January ) provide the Hewitt Farm Committee Chair and First Selectman electronic copies of : • The soil analysis for each of the three fields • The application rates of associated soil treatments ( tons / acre ) and associated invoices or proof of applications . • Annual accounting of number of bales per acre of hay harvested ( indicator of soil health ) • Current / Draft plan for maintenance of the fields for the following year • Schedule an annual update meeting with the Hewitt Farm committee to review and discuss the above items .
