I - 70 Eagle Airport Interchange Planning and Design Services

The Town of Gypsum (“ Town ”) is seeking statements of qualifications ( SOQ ) to provide professional engineering services to advance the design for the I - 70 Eagle Airport Interchange located in Gypsum between the Gypsum and Eagle Interstate 70 ( I - 70 ) exits . The proposed interchange will provide for direct access to the Eagle County Regional Airport and supports regional capacity solutions to support mobility along the Highway 6 corridor , as well as other significant regional corridors . This interchange vision started in the 1990s with the Colorado Department of Transportation leading an interchange concept study , Environmental Assessment ( EA ), Finding of No Significant Impact ( FONSI ), and a substantially completed design which was ultimately shelved in 2009 and never constructed . The Town has picked up the project as the lead agency and has restarted the planning phase of the project . A feasibility study was completed in 2025 which proposed a preferred recommended alternative to be carried into a National Environmental Protection Act ( NEPA ) study as part of this contract . The consultant design services requested will include all disciplines required for the project to move from initial scoping and NEPA through final design , advertisement of construction bid documents , and design support during construction .
