I forbindelse med allogene stramcelletransplantationer af blodstamceller til patienter med maligne blodsygdomme kan det være nødvendigt at oprense produkterne for, at disse ikke medfører en akut afstødning af patientens væv og dermed en livstruende tilstand. Det anvendes ved malign blodsygdom, og i særdeleshed til børn, hvor det ikke har været muligt at finde en fuldmatchet donor.
