Specifications include , but are not limited to : 1 . Project Overview ; This scope of work details the requirements and expectations for painting the interior of a CSD school facility . Color samples a will be required for approval by school administration . The goal is to refresh and protect all designated areas , ensuring a safe , durable , and visually appealing environment for students and staff returning from summer break at the following schools : Decatur High School – 292 , 652 Sq . Ft . Beacon Hill Middle School – 200 , 620 Sq . Ft . Fifth Avenue Upper Elementary School – 52 , 231 Sq . Ft . Talley Street Elementary School – 85 , 000 Sq . Ft . 2 . Areas to Be Painted • Classrooms , hallways , and administrative offices • Cafeteria , gymnasium , auditoriums , media centers , and multipurpose rooms • Restrooms and locker rooms where walls are not tiled • Metal surfaces : grilles , registers , doors , door frames , window frames , railings , and trim • Special areas : stairwells , entrances , and common spaces ; 3 . Surface Preparation • Clean all surfaces to remove dust , dirt , grease , and loose paint • Repair cracks , holes , and imperfections using appropriate fillers • Sand surfaces as needed to ensure proper paint adhesion • Protect hardware , accessories , device plates , ceiling grid , and similar items • Apply primer where necessary ; 4 . Painting Application • Use high - quality , low - VOC paints suitable for educational environments • Apply a minimum of two coats on all surfaces unless otherwise specified • Follow manufacturer ’ s recommendations for drying times between coats • Protect adjacent surfaces ( floors , furniture , fixtures ) during painting
