This bid is brand specific . The DNR is seeking a contractor to furnish and install Whelen brand LED lights , sirens , wiring , connectors and switches on all motorized vehicles such as boats , personal watercraft , snowmobiles , ORV ’ s , motorcycles , snowmobile trailers and other items not listed . Contractor shall provide a one ( 1 ) year written manufacturer ’ s warranty . Transferred warranties will not be accepted . The State of Michigan reserves the right to reject any or all bids , to waive any irregularity in any bid , and to recommend award ( s ) in the best interest of the State . 1 . GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1 . 1 PRODUCT AND INSTALLATION SPECIFICATIONS A . General requirements for all products and installations . 1 . Whelen Engineering Company products , lights , switches , connectors , wiring and mounting brackets are strongly preferred to align with existing installed lighting packages . 2 . All lights must be in black rubberized , painted or anodized housings . 3 . All electrical connections must be made with waterproof terminal strips and waterproof quick connectors to ensure wiring is hardy and will survive outdoor conditions . 4 . All lights must be flush mounted . Tolerance +/- 1 / 64 ” 5 . All lights must be wired to an on / off toggle switch located on or near the dash . 6 . All lights , wiring , connectors and switches must be waterproof , not water resistant . 7 . Wire must be concealed and secured in place . Exposed or loose wiring is not acceptable . 8 . New wire must be fished through existing manufacturers ’ conduit and resealed after installation . 9 . Vehicles requiring installation of lighting packages will be drop - shipped or delivered to Contractor ’ s location by the manufacturer or dealer / distributor of the equipment . 10 . The Contractor agrees to inspect all equipment upon receipt of delivery , and complete and submit damage reports ( Schedule C – Vehicle Inspection Report ) to the Program Manager or designee . 11 . All installation will be done at the Contractor ’ s location . 12 . The Contractor agrees to fabricate custom mounting brackets when existing mounting brackets are insufficient . 13 . The DNR Program Manager or designee will inspect the finished work after completion of the first boat , ORV , snowmobile , etc ., prior to the Contractor installing more lighting packages on that vehicle type . This will provide the DNR Program Manager or designee with an opportunity to approve the installation or note any discrepancies that must be remedied prior to the Contractor continuing additional installations . 14 . Bidders should refer to Exhibit A – Photo Typical Installations for examples of prior DNR approved lighting package installations . Bidders offering alternate typical installations must attach a detailed description of the proposed alternate installation , including photos of prior installations , as an attachment with their proposal in SIGMA .
