Use of specific names and numbers is not intended to restrict the bidding of any seller and / or manufacturer , but is solely for the purpose of indicating the type , size and quality of materials , products , service , or equipment considered best adapted to the County ’ s intended use . Proprietary specifications may be waived for functional equivalents offered , if authorized by requesting department . 1 ) Liquid chlorine is a powerful oxidizing agent and is used in various applications , including disinfection and water treatment . • Formula - CI2 • Appearance : clear amber liquid • CAS Registry Number : 7782 - 50 - 5 • Symbol : CI • Atomic number : 17 • Density : Approximately 3 . 214g / cm3 • Boiling Point : 239 . 11 K (- 34 . 6 C ) • Melting Point : 171 . 6 K (- 34 . 0 C ) • Solubility : Slightly soluble in water ( 0 . 3 % to 0 . 7 %) 2 ) The supplier guarantees the liquid chlorine furnished during the contract period will meet or exceed the above specifications . 3 ) Product will be delivered in approximately one ( 1 ) ton gallon shipments |
