Description | To ensure the safety and well - being of every firefighter , the City of Keene Fire Department is soliciting proposals from qualified healthcare providers to provide comprehensive annual medical evaluations for at a minimum 60 firefighters as designed to meet the guidelines of NFPA 1582 , Current Edition . The stated performance considerations of NFPA 1582 are to reduce the risk of injury , illness , or death to firefighters , and to ensure the effectiveness of firefighters operating to protect the lives and property of the general public . The program requires a medical provider with in - depth knowledge regarding fire - service - specific medical assessments in accordance with the International Association of Fire Fighters / International Association of Fire Chiefs ( IAFF / IAFC ) Joint Labor Management Wellness Fitness Initiative , the Firefighter Life Safety Initiative , and NFPA 1582 Standards . |
