Every annual spawning season , CDFW staff raise salmon , steelhead , and trout to be released into the wild . Mortality of fish and fish eggs are a result of normal hatchery operations during spawning season and when rearing young fish . It is necessary to contract with a rendering service company to pick up dead fish and fish eggs for proper disposal . ii . Objectives and Deliverables : • CDFW will schedule a pick - up with the Contractor . • The Contractor will arrive with the appropriate fleet . • The Contractor will load the dead fish and fish eggs from the hatchery ’ s containers into their fleet , leaving the hatchery ’ s containers in place . • The Contractor will transport the dead fish and fish eggs to the rendering processing plant . Work to be Performed 1 . The Contractor will provide the following services : a ) Task 1 : Transport dead fish and fish eggs to the rendering processing plant i . The Contractor will arrive to the hatchery location with fleet designed for transporting dead fish and fish eggs . It will be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the size of the fleet to maximize efficiency . The Contractor will load the dead fish and fish eggs from the hatchery ’ s containers into their fleet , leaving the containers in place at the hatchery , and transport the dead fish and fish eggs to the rendering processing plant . Pickups will be scheduled as needed throughout the year via written or verbal communication between the location representatives or CDFW Contract Manager and the Contractor .
