Description | The City seeks welding inspection services from Certified Welding Inspectors ( CWI ) certified by the American Welding Society ( AWS ) and NDT technicians certified in accordance with ASNT SNT - TC - 1A or equivalent . Services shall include : • Welding inspection for steel pipe , structural steel , and miscellaneous metals in accordance with applicable codes ( AWWA , AWS , ASME , etc .) • Pre - weld inspection including welder qualification verification , welding procedure review , and base metal verification • In - process welding inspection including joint preparation , fit - up , interpass inspection , and weld quality evaluation • Visual weld inspection ( VT ) and documentation in accordance with applicable standards • Non - destructive testing including radiographic testing ( RT ), ultrasonic testing ( UT ), magnetic particle testing ( MT ), liquid penetrant testing ( PT ), and other methods as specified • Weld repair inspection and verification of corrective actions • Post - weld heat treatment monitoring when required • Welding documentation including weld maps , welder continuity logs , and NDT reports • Final weld inspection and acceptance documentation for code compliance and owner records |
