PARKING LOT # 1 SIDEWALK BOULEVARD RECONSTRUCTION

The City of Hastings Downtown Development Authority ( DDA ) is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors for the reconstruction of a pedestrian boulevard located at W . Court Street and S . Church Street , Hastings , Michigan . The project addresses deteriorated concrete pavement , curbing , and tree - related infrastructure damage that has created unsafe pedestrian conditions and ADA compliance concerns . Specific or Technical Requirements of the Work or Goods The Contractor shall provide all labor , materials , equipment , and incidentals necessary to complete the project , including but not limited to the following : A . Demolition and Removal Remove and dispose of approximately 1 , 160 square feet of existing concrete sidewalk / boulevard , approximately 280 linear feet of existing curb , two ( 2 ) existing trees , including stump grinding and root removal as necessary , and , two ( 2 ) existing tree grates . The contractor shall protect adjacent pavement , utilities , and structures from damage during removal operations B . Concrete Installation The contractor shall install approximately 1 , 160 square feet of new concrete sidewalk / boulevard , decorative or stamped concrete is preferred . The contractor shall install approximately 280 linear feet of new curb , match existing grades and ensure proper drainage away from pedestrian paths , and ensure ADA compliance with a < 2 % cross slope . The contractor shall verify utility locations and coordinate MISS DIG . C . Tree Installation and Planting The contractor shall provide and install two ( 2 ) new street trees selected from the following approved species : Black Gum ( Nyssa sylvatica ), Ginkgo ( Ginkgo biloba , male cultivars only ), Thornless Honeylocust ( Gleditsia triacanthos var . inermis ), or approved other by the City of Hastings . Contractor shall provide a mulch , staking , and watering plan . The contractor shall install two ( 2 ) new tree grates , grates shall be ADA - compliant and designed with removable or expandable inner rings to accommodate trunk growth . The contractor shall include a root barrier for both trees . D . Site Restoration The contractor shall restore disturbed areas to original condition , repair any pavement or landscaping impacted by construction , clean site upon completion .
