Description | The Port of Seattle is seeking to conduct a one - year Proof - of - Concept ( POC ) testing to evaluate privacy - preserving pedestrian counting technology along the station - to - garage walkway connecting the Sea - Tac / Airport Light Rail Station and SEA Airport Terminal . The Port seeks to use a LiDAR ( Light Detection and Ranging ) edge device which does not collect or store personally identifiable information ( PII ). Instead , the supplier provided system will perform on - site , real - time , data analytics to capture the number of people in the area of interest . This will be done using a 5G router and NUC computer devices . The solution must operate independently of Port networks , be easily deployable , scalable , easily installed and removed , and provide continuous ( 24 / 7 ) pedestrian flow data with a minimum of 99 . 5 % counting accuracy throughout the POC period . |
