Description
Description | The scope of the range project is to facilitate moving the target area closer to the berm , increasing the likelihood of capturing all rounds fired during normal range operation , and to make general improvements to allow for ease of use as well as maintenance . To achieve this task , many things will have to work in concert and each aspect will have multiple layers . The desired modifications and improvements are as follows : Beginning with the new target area . Note the entire range will be moved 10 yards closer to the western berm , this will allow us to utilize the current 15 yard line for the new 25 yard line while achieving the desired backstop and maintaining no less than 14 targets . This will include a thick concrete pad no less than 39 ’ E - W x 90 ’ N - S x 4 ” to tie into existing pad in front of the current target area . Any dirt removed from this area can be placed on the north side berm or on top of west berm . 15 weld plates no less than 16 ” x16 ” for target frame and pneumatic ram , no less than 18 sticks of 3 ” channel iron ( no less than 3 - 5 ’ metal sticks set in concrete ) for cross tie support for the a knee wall , a shielding wall on the south side and a retaining wall behind the targets . The foundation for the retaining wall will be comprised of a cement foundation with no less than 8 of the previously mentioned sticks of channel iron . Prior to beginning this phase , the turning target system will have to be cut from the existing weld plates and stowed away for future use . The removal of the standing crossties and concrete ( 6 ’ x130 ’) in the current target area will need to be demoed . There is no cost for dumping refuse from the range at a designated location on site at the landfill . No less than 14 barricade supports will be added to the new 25 yard line ( currently the 15 yard line ). The new 50 yard line , no less than 8 ’ x96 ’ x4 ” also with no less than 14 barricades supports . A concrete pad no less than 10 ’ x58 ’ x6 ”, to be poured in front of the classroom for the placement of a no less than 40 ’ shipping container . This will include the removal of an 8 ’ x38 ’ sidewalk . New service ( power and airline ) from shipping container in front of the classroom to a underground vault in the new target area . The vault will protect the connection to the turning targets and will allow for airline dryers and 120v outlets down range . Additional needs to complete outside project include no less than 90 crossties for knee wall ( 3 . 5 ’ x 90 ’ no less than 3 - 4 crossties in height ), for the retaining wall behind the target area ( 3 . 5 ’ x90 ’) and to enclose the south end of the target area , tied in with the knee and retaining wall ( 6 ’ long x 4 ’ tall ). No less than two shipping containers , no less than 40x8x8 - 9 . In good condition and painted to match existing structure . One will be placed in front of the classroom ( running north and south ) and outfitted as a workshop . Electrical panel to provide service down range and additional power / lighting inside the container . Outlets to run air compressors , grinder and a welder . Power ran to this container should come from the classroom . The second shipping container is for storage only and should be set along the north side of the parking lot running east and west . Improvements made to the classroom include , an awning no less than 15 ’ x40 ’ , finishing the interior walls ( 114 ’ for 10 ’ ceiling ) ( 35 4x8 panels already on site ), adding a second bathroom ( no less than 5 ’ x8 ’ adjacent to existing bathroom ) and a concrete ramp into the classroom |
