The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians ( GTB ) Tribal Court is soliciting contractual - service proposals for a Probate and Estate Planning Attorney , to : 1 .) Provide legal services / representation to persons probating a decedent Tribal Members ’ Estate in the Tribal Court ; and 2 .) Creating estate planning documents for Tribal Members , for one ( 1 ) year ( FY ' 2026 ), ( effective on Oct . 1 , 2025 and end on Sept . 30 , 2026 ). Up to Two ( 2 ) Attorneys will be selected to enter into contracts , to represent a decedent Tribal Members ’ Estate , in a Tribal Court Case , within the Tribe ’ s jurisdiction . The Attorney must be familiar with Tribal laws , Tribal Probate laws , and State of Michigan and Federal laws governing Probate Matters . The Attorney will be required to meet with the family of the decedent , as soon as a case is assigned and thereafter , on a regular basis , as required by law or court rule . Some travel may be required within the Tribe ’ s Six - County Service Area of : Antrim , Benzie , Charlevoix , Grand Traverse , Leelanau and Manistee Counties . See more
