Independent Contractor shall provide professional hemodialysis services to Hospital patients , in accordance with accepted professional standards and practices . The approximate number of hemodialysis appointments ranges from forty - eight ( 48 ) to sixty - five ( 65 ) per month . CONTRACTOR A . The Independent Contractor shall provide any patient of Hospital , who is accepted by Independent Contractor as a hemodialysis patient , with outpatient hemodialysis services . Services will include pre - treatment and post - treatment evaluation , the administration of dialysis , and the provision of intra - dialytic medications related to the patient ' s renal condition . The need to transfer a patient to the Independent Contractor for dialysis services shall be determined by the patient ' s treating physician . B . The Independent Contractor shall provide outpatient hemodialysis services to patients of the Hospital at the Independent Contractor ' s place f business . In the event of a medical emergency , Independent Contractor will arrange for the transfer of the patient to the nearest emergency room . Independent Contractor will immediately notify the Whitfield Medical Surgical Hospital ( WMSH ) Director of Nursing ( DON ) or designee of any such transfer . In the event of a non - medical emergency , Independent Contractor will handle the situation according to its applicable policies and procedures . WMSH DON or designee will be notified of any such situation . Independent Contractor shall immediately inform WMSH of any significant changes in the patient ' s medical condition . Independent Contractor shall promptly transfer and communicate pertinent medical information to the Hospital regarding a patient ' s condition and the services provided by the Independent Contractor . Independent Contractor shall ensure that the personal effects of the patient are stored safely in a place known and reasonably accessible to the patient and / or HOSPITAL staff
