Technical Specifications 1 . Type Switches shall be 115kV class , motor operated vertical break switches . They shall be 3 , 000 - amp , outdoor type , three - pole , single throw , braidless , group operated , and mounted on LES structures . LES ’ typical structure is shown on drawing 016105 . Live parts shall be copper or aluminum alloy construction . A motor operating mechanism shall be supplied with each switch . 2 . Standards Design , construct , and test all equipment and materials in conformance with the requirements of the latest revisions and supplements of all applicable ANSI / IEEE , IEC , ASME , ASTM , NEMA , and NESC Standards , except where this specification is more stringent . If any requirement of this specification conflicts with these standards , the Contractor shall notify the Engineer . 3 . Bidder Qualifications The manufacturer of each item of equipment or material furnished shall be regularly engaged in the fabrication of the item and it shall have an acceptable history of satisfactory , reliable service in outdoor substation use for a period of at least three ( 3 ) years under comparable environmental conditions . The manufacturer shall have supplied at least 100 units in the United States identical to that being bid . Newly developed equipment with less than three ( 3 ) years actual service will be considered from established manufacturers only if it has been adequately tested , meets the requirements of this contract , and is approved by LES . 4 .
