NOTE : The Authority will NOT be using the specs for the new PEM Concrete ( Performance Engineered Mix ), the Authority will be using the old class mixes . Whenever reference is made to NYSDOT Standard Specifications it shall be understood to mean New York State Department of Transportation " STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS " with applicable addenda and to reference the Standard Specifications ( USC ) January 01 , 2024 Volume 2 edition . Whenever reference is made to the Director , Regional Director or Division Director , it shall be understood to mean the Authority Division Director or his designated representative . . Mixing : The mix delivered will be as ordered by the Division Director . . Central mixed concrete shall be defined as concrete mixed in a stationary mixer and transported in approved agitating or non - agitating units to the point of deposition . . Transit mixed concrete shall be defined as concrete mixed completely in a truck mixer . Mixing may occur at the following locations or combinations thereof : at the plant , while in transit , or at the point of deposition . . Truck mixed concrete shall be defined as concrete mixed completely in a truck mixer following the addition of mixing water at the point of deposition . When concrete as described herein is furnished , the Contractor shall maintain a continuity of supply of concrete consistent with the operation and to the satisfaction of the Division Director . During the use of the mixed concrete , the Contractor shall be responsible for making whatever reasonable changes in procedures or equipment that are requested by the Division Director . ITEM 1 : CLASS A CONCRETE This Item shall be a Portland Cement concrete in accordance with NYSDOT Specification Section " 501 - PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE - GENERAL " as listed for " Class A ". ITEM 2 : CLASS C CONCRETE This Item shall be a Portland Cement concrete in accordance with NYSDOT Specification Section " 501 - PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE - GENERAL " as listed for " Class C ". ITEM 3 : CLASS D CONCRETE This Item shall be a Portland Cement concrete in accordance with NYSDOT Specification Section " 501 - PORTLAND CEMENT - CONCRETE - GENERAL " as listed for " Class D ". ITEM 4 : CLASS E CONCRETE This Item shall be a Portland Cement concrete in accordance with NYSDOT Specification Section " 501 - PORTLAND CEMENT - CONCRETE - GENERAL " as listed for " Class E ", with the following exceptions : 1 . Coarse Aggregate : Coarse aggregate used in this Item shall be NYSDOT approved materials . The type of coarse aggregate shall be crushed gravel ; crushed stone ; crushed slag or * traprock ( gabbro ), as directed by the Division Director according to the requirements of the specific project . All aggregates shall be free of chert and flint and suitable for use in both exposed concrete and concrete for structures . * Traprock with a specific gravity greater than 2 . 85 . ITEM 5 : CLASS F CONCRETE This Item shall be a Portland Cement concrete in accordance with NYSDOT Specification Section " 501 - PORTLAND CEMENT - CONCRETE - GENERAL " as listed for " Class F ".
