A . Remove all the existing roofing materials down to the bare decking . Replace / repair all rotten , broken , damaged , or substandard decking and framing ( including barge rafters ). Contact the housing specialist at Community Services ( CS ) for a mandatory inspection after framing or decking repairs ; boots , valleys and vents installed , and before covering with felt . Do not cover the roof without prior CS approval . Please schedule these inspections during regular business hours and allow the rehab specialist at least 2 hours lead time . Do not skip this step . B . Install new boots and flashings at all roof penetrations ( vent pipes , chimneys , etc .). C . Install new valley material as specified per case . All deficient materials will be replaced . D . Install new drip rail on each house . E . Ventilation will be specified for each house and may be swapping out an existing component , such as turbines , for a new one with no modifications necessary . Some houses will change to ridge vent installation . F . Properly dispose of all debris immediately at the end of each day . Do not leave fasteners , safety hazards , or debris on the ground . Use a magnetic sweep daily around the perimeter of the house and rake away all debris daily and before final inspection . G . Underlayment will be 30 # felt , stick down membrane , etc . covering the entire roof surface .
