Description | The City of Pasadena Glenarm Power Plant consists of five natural - gas fueled combustion turbines ( GT1 , GT2 , GT3 , GT4 and GT5 ) equipped with generators that produce electrical power . GT5 is also equipped with a once through steam generator and steam turbine . Purified water is produced at the Glenarm Power Plant for the following uses : Injection into the gas turbine engine combustors to suppress oxides of nitrogen ( NOx ) in the engine exhaust Injection into the low or high pressure air compressors to enhance power output ( Spray Intercooling ) Makeup to the GT5 steam condensate cycle Cleaning of energized power lines The Glenarm Power Plant Gas Turbines , and water treatment processes , operate intermittently and seasonally in response to peak electrical power demand as shown in the table below : |
