Description

LINZ is planning to undertake a comprehensive data migration project to transition from S-57 to S-100/S-101 while implementing a new gridded chart scheme and dual fuel production capability. The migration aims to:• Transition from legacy S-57 database to modern S-101 ENCs• Implement S-101 ENC production alongside S-57 (dual fuel approach)• Establish new gridded chart scheme for improved coverage removing overlaps• Rationalize data through vertical deconfliction and horizontal consistency• Create scaleless layersThe migration will follow a region-by-region strategy where geographic areas are processed sequentially. Each region will undergo the complete migration cycle independently, with only static external dependencies from preparation phases. This approach allows for:• Parallel processing of multiple regions• Focused quality control and validation• Manageable scope and risk mitigation• Flexible scheduling based on operational priorities• Provide dual fuel product release efficiency with minimal impact on Paper Charts
