Description | Project Objectives- Improve the representativeness, accuracy and credibility of iRAP model use on the SRN by including the shunt crash type.- Better understand how shunt collisions are initiated, what influences their severity, and what measures we can take to reduce their number and severity.We will achieve this by2025/2026- Undertaking a review of previous work and undertake scoping review to inform modelling options- Select and prepare suitable data ready for modelling.- Undertake modelling to produce crash modification factors (CMFs)2026/2027- Use the outcomes from WP3 to create a shunt crash type within the iRAP model testbed- Undertake shunt crash type validation to ensure the shunt crash type works for other road networks as well as the SRN- Present findings, including the shunt crash type development work and the validation work, to iRAP Global Technical Committee. |
