Description | As part of the National Highways LED Rollout, the organisation has set a target for 70% ofstreetlights to be converted to LED by 31 March 2027, supporting the broader Net ZeroCarbon commitment.This initiative includes investment in Central Management Systems (CMS) - a centralsoftware platform, designed to optimise network interventions while enhancing lightingcontrol and energy usage monitoring. i.e. by extending lamp life, providing remotemonitoring and control of energy usage and fault reporting; reducing energy usage andcarbon emissions, and by removing the need for scouting / roadside visits.CMS are essential in modern street lighting systems that dim lighting in accordance withstandards and guidance, when traffic flows are lighter. However, it has become clear thatthe CMS is not being utilised to its full potential and requires optimisation to deliver theintended benefits. |
