Description | The Contractor shall provide : 1 . One ( 1 ) sludge gravity thickener pump suitable for municipal wastewater sludge service . The pump shall be a positive displacement pump , with the basis of design being a progressive cavity pump . Approved equal designs may include other proven positive displacement pump technologies , provided the proposed equipment demonstrates equivalent or superior performance to the basis - of - design pump . Any proposed equal must clearly demonstrate compliance with all requirements of this Appendix and must meet or exceed the basis - of - design pump in terms of : • Hydraulic performance • Solids - handling capability • Materials of construction • Reliability and service life • Maintenance accessibility and downtime • Documented service history in similar municipal sludge applications The pump shall be : • New , unused , and of current manufacture • Designed for continuous - duty gravity thickener sludge service • Suitable for variable solids concentrations and viscous sludge • Designed to minimize shear , clogging , and process disruption • Of industrial - grade construction suitable for municipal wastewater environments |
