Students receive core components to build the vehicle ' s electrical , mechanical , and structural systems . The parts can either be sourced from a ready - made kit that has materials provided for instruction and educational purchases , including requirements listed in this document . Anticipated kit quantities per year : 1 , 200 - 1 , 300 . Anticipated component per kit , including all the components needed , including a solar panel , battery pack , motor , car base , wheels , axles , additional parts required , and instructions . Vendor willing to collaborate with LES and LPS on safety and educational feature improvement . Videos / Educational Materials - Solar / Battery vehicle teacher ’ s guide : This guide contains ITEEA standards , CCSS Math , and NGSS addressed ; teacher and student instructions for a variety of math , science , and technology activities ; any tests ; resource pages ; and links to video resources . Contains activities for middle school and links to career information and applications of communication collaboration , critical thinking , and creativity . Equipment and materials needed to complete guide activities include solar vehicles as well as other tools and materials . Items needed for all activities are listed in the teacher guide .
