Provide speech therapy to eligible students , consult with teachers and other staff members , serve as a resource to faculty , and participate in the Child Study Team . Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and language development . Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech students . Assist and guide teachers in observing , describing , and referring to suspected speech and language impairments . Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech , voice , and language impairments . Provide screening to identify speech disabled children in compliance with state and federal guidelines . Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate . Provide appropriate individualized and group programs of therapy to meet individual students ’ needs and ameliorate existing speech or language disabilities . Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions from the student ’ s daily activities . Provide in - service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement . Provide information and support to parents and families when appropriate . Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school - based speech services . Attend child study meetings providing appropriate input on the special needs of students . Conduct annual IEP conferences and other IEP related meetings as needed , develop appropriate IEP goals and objectives in consultation with parents and other professionals . Must be able to coordinate services with District provided or contracted SLPA .
