Description

Description

Please note : This is a Sole Source Notification . The Idaho Department of Administration , Division of Purchasing , hereby publishes notice of intent to approve a sole source authorization for Idaho Transportation Department to purchase Trimble Geospatial data collection equipment from Trimble Inc . This notice is being given pursuant to Idaho Code section 67 - 9221 . ITD has standardized its geospatial data collection equipment and workflows on Trimble Field Systems . Survey and construction staff across the agency have been trained in the use of these systems , enabling ITD to efficiently deploy instruments between district offices and active road projects as needed . This standardization allows equipment to be shared across district locations , maximizing utilization and resulting in significant cost savings for the agency . Maintaining a single standardized platform also eliminates the need to purchase , manage , and support multiple software packages for different devices . By using Trimble - compatible software across its geospatial instruments , ITD reduces licensing costs , minimizes training requirements , simplifies technical support , and ensures consistent data collection and workflows across districts . This approach provides additional long - term cost savings and operational efficiency for the agency . Because ITD ' s existing field equipment , workflows , and staff training are based on the Trimble platform the software must be fully compatible with existing Trimble Field Systems to maintain operational continuity and protect the agency ' s prior investment in equipment , training , and established workflows . Introducing software from alternative platforms would also require ITD ' s Information Technology Services ( ITS ) to conduct additional research and a formal review to determine whether the software meets ITS technical and security requirements . This process includes evaluating system compatibility , reviewing data security practices , and verifying that the software and any associated services comply with state technology policies , including confirmation that the product does not have connections to restricted or prohibited foreign entities , including those associated with China . Standardizing on Trimble - compatible software reduces the need for repeated security evaluations and helps maintain compliance with ITD and state IT security policies .
